March Reading List

I didn't finish much in March, but I did a lot of crafting and partying.  Library books are marked with an asterisk.

A Rule Against Murder, Louise Penney*

An Altar in the World: A Geography of Faith, Barbara Brown Taylor

The Secret Life of Bees, Sue Monk Kidd

These were all fine.  I enjoyed A Rule Against Murder more than I thought I would, given that it was a Three Pines mystery not set in the village of Three Pines.  An Altar in the World is fine.  The Secret Life of Bees sure was a mid-2000s bestseller.

On the crafting front, I've been sewing a lot.  The crafting group at my church is still making protective garments to give to nursing homes and they've been sending me home with scraps.  After a few false starts, I started making nine-patch blocks with florals and solids.

This is more vibrant in real life.  I think I'll do red sashing to complete the top because I have enough and because I like the idea of even more color.  As for the backing, who knows?  I'm trying to put these scraps to good use and keep things sorted.  This will be a quilt for our couch.  I might do a baby blanket next.

I've also been knitting more dishcloths (see below) and socks (not pictured).

As for the partying, well!  My daughter and my husband had birthdays this month.  Lots of planning and shopping and card-making and celebrating.

We started Daylight Saving Time. I went on some walks.  I tried some sewing projects that I might write more about later.  It wasn't February and freezing, and so I was able to enjoy more of life.

I still post more often on Instagram if pictures are more of your thing, but I do keep meaning to write more often.  We'll see.
