February 2026 Reading List and I don't know what else
February started with snow and ended with temps in the 80s. I am not sure my kid went to school a full 5 days in a row the whole time. I lived somewhere between church and the dentist office and my car. I worked on a few projects, but I didn't really like them so maybe none of them count. I started a pair of socks near the end of the month that I hope to finish in a couple of weeks. Wish me luck!
I also played with our church handbell choir at a festival. My life often turns out differently than what I had envisioned for myself.
Anyway, here are the books. Asterisks indicate library checkouts.
Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, David Gram*
All My Puny Sorrows, Miriam Toews*
The Comfort of Crows: A Backyard Year, written by Margaret Renkl and illustrated by Billy Renkl
The Pecan Children, Quinn Connor*
Into the Wild, John Krakauer
Grimoire Girl: Creating an Inheritance of Magic and Mischief, Hilarie Burton Morgan*
The Leaf and the Cloud, Mary Oliver*
All of these were good, but I am realizing I might want to read something lighter. The Pecan Children and Grimoire Girl were re-reads because I enjoyed them so much last year.
All My Puny Sorrows was really good and the first thing I've ever read by Miriam Toews. I'm going to wait a bit before I read anything else by her. But I'll be back.
Into the Wild was excellent. Sad. Moving. Real. Compelling.
The Comfort of Crows was nice. I've been slowly reading it throughout the past year or so. It was nice to dip in and out of the observations and mediations with the art.
I couldn't tell you a thing about The Leaf and the Cloud, but I enjoyed it at the time.
Killers of the Flower Moon. Wow. I read through it in a day or so. Gram is an amazing researcher and writer and the story was incredible.
